
Calder Loth
Calder Loth is the retired Senior Architectural Historian for the Virginia Department of Historic Resources. He serves as a member of the Virginia Art and Architectural Review Board and the Council of Advisors for the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art. Loth was a guest curator for the 1992 Virginia Museum of Fine Arts exhibition of Virginia architectural drawings. He served as a co-curator for the 2010 Royal Institute of British Architects exhibition of original Palladio drawings at the Pierpont Morgan Library. Calder Loth was the recipient of the first Secretary of the Interior’s Preservation Award 2008 for his service to state preservation programs. He received the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art Board of Directors Honor Award in 2010, and the 2017 Virginia AIA Honor Award for contributions to the understanding of Virginia’s built environment. A graduate of the University of the Virginia School of Architecture, Loth is the author of numerous books and articles relating to traditional and classical architecture.
