The purpose of this study is to describe and categorize the informal learning of children in the ... more The purpose of this study is to describe and categorize the informal learning of children in the families of different ethnic parents in the area of South Sulawesi Province. The use of qualitative research methods is the focus of expressing meaning based on the experience of different ethnic marriage couples. This study examines the individual behavior of ethnic Balinese and Bugis/Wotu parents. In addition to in-depth interviews, data collection techniques were carried out through indirect documentation and observation techniques. Data analysis to provide a categorization of meaning inductively. The results found that the informal learning of children of different ethnic couples in the family environment. Informal learning of parents are conducted through two approaches. First, the initiative of parents in providing understanding and role models for their children. This learning is obtained from the family environment consciously or unconsciously, dialogically and participatory. Secondly, not the initiative of parents or intervention from certain parties (teachers and peers) helped provide understanding and role models for ethnic children. Conscious learning through instructional teaching in schools and peer relationships are active-dialogical and participatory.

Permasalahan mitra komunitas etnik Kampung Rama Kelompok mayoritas adalah etnik Toraja dan kelompok minoritas adalah etnik Bugis, etnik Makassar, etnik Mandar, dan etnik Jawa. Kelompok mayoritas dan minoritas berbeda agama, nilai, kepercayaan, dan adat istiadat harus saling memahami. Tujuannya memaksimalkan pengetahuan, sikap dan perilaku dalam menerima perbedaan sebagai keberagaman bangsa. Metode ini dapat meningkatkan karakter sikap demokratis, pluralis, dan humanis pada masyarakat komunitas Etnik Kampung Rama. Tahapan metode yakni, pertama, pembuatan karya audio visual pendidikan multikultural; kedua, kegiatan pengajaran dan pelatihan; ketiga, pemutaran audio visual multikultural, dan keempat : hasil pretest dan postest literasi multikultural. Nilai postest lebih tinggi dari pretest, seperti pemahaman dan keterbukaan masyarakat terhadap perbedaan suku, agama, dan ras. Cara pengambilan keputusan dan peran aktif pada perbedaan suku mengalami peningkatan hasil dari pretest dan postest. Persepsi dan pandangan masyarakat terhadap kebebasan beragama menunjukkan hasil sama yakni 100%.

Interpersonal communication involves the exchange of verbal and non-verbal messages that can dire... more Interpersonal communication involves the exchange of verbal and non-verbal messages that can directly affect the sender and recipient of the message. The context of interpersonal communication can be applied to opinion leaders and minority groups in direct interaction. This article aims to analyze interpersonal communication between community leaders and a minority group which may affect social harmonization in a prone conflict society. The study employs constructivism paradigm and three data collection methods, which are focus group discussion, observation, and in-depth interviews. Those data were analysed by qualitative approach to generalize the conclusions of the results of data analysis inductively. The study found that opinion leaders apply the concept of interpersonal communication with minority groups through interpersonal communication skills, such as the ability to imitate, identification skills, and the ability of sympathy with minority groups. The obstacle factor of interpersonal communication between opinion leaders and minority groups is first, barriers to the status effect, perceptual distorsion barriers, and barriers to cultural differences on minority groups that have different cultures, religions and social environments.

The assimilation of communication between ethnic Toraja/Tionghoa and Ethnic Bugis/Makassar is the... more The assimilation of communication between ethnic Toraja/Tionghoa and Ethnic Bugis/Makassar is the process of assimilation of two different cultures. The process of assimilation formation occurs due to inter-ethnic communication mixing done continuously. This is an attempt to reduce cultural differences, such as language, gestures, non verbal, attitudes, beliefs, traits, values and mind orientation. The goal is to reduce communication distortion as an effort to prevent SARA (Ethnicity, Religion, Race, and Inter-group) conflict in South Sulawesi Province. The assimilation of inter-ethnic communication can lead to a new/mixed culture to prevent Ethnic, Religion, Race, Intergroup oriented conflict. The research method is done through qualitative paradigm with interpretative approach based on uniqueness and specification of study which can not be generalized. Data collection techniques were conducted through in-depth interviews and Focuss Group Discussion with religious leaders, community leaders, in Luwu Utara District and Tana Toraja. Reasons for Representative chose the location because there was direct contact between the ethnic groups that became the focus of this research. The process of communication assimilation stage between ethnic Toraja/Tionghoa and Bugis/Makassar ethnic is the first step of learning as inter-ethnic activity that adapt each other. Second, the impersonation stage as an activity of inter-ethnic cultural understanding. Third, the stages of change are marked by mutual understanding of the use of symbolic inter ethnic Toraja/Tionghoa and Ethnic Bugis/Makassar. Symbolic or verbal behavior is an activity of interaction where the delivery and reception of messages is done through conversation, language exchange, and understanding the use of everyday language. The assumption of cultural assimilation is based on longer and more open inter-ethnic interactions increasingly likely to result in cultural assimilation, especially ethnic minority groups, namely ethnic Toraja/Tionghoa.

Purpose of the study: This study aims to analyze the effect of COVID-19 message exposure through ... more Purpose of the study: This study aims to analyze the effect of COVID-19 message exposure through the use of conventional media and new media based on indicators of frequency, duration, and consistency. Analysis of gratifications based on indicators seeking information, social interaction, and education. This study analyzes the uses and gratifications theory through conventional and new media exposure to COVID-19 pandemic information exposure. Methodology: The quantitative research method tests the theory of uses and gratifications that is based on indicators of research variables. The determination of respondents is completed through probability sampling comprises of 169 respondents. Research data is analyzed with the help of SPSS v 21 (SPSS Inc.) software with the Pearson Product Moment Correlation coefficient formula. Main Findings: The results showed that the three indicators of satisfaction fulfillment testing indicators, namely seeking information, social interaction, and education are in middle satisfaction. The results of the regression analysis test showed that there was a positive influence on variable X (media exposure) on the level of respondent satisfaction (Y). The results of the coefficient of determination are 0.577 conventional media and the determination of new media of 0.106 is the level of satisfaction of respondents. The validity and accuracy of the uses and gratifications theory in the exposure to the COVID-19 message and respondent satisfaction are positively correlated. Applications of This Study: This study examines the uses and gratifications approach for millennial activity in seeking information on the COVID-19 pandemic in conventional and new media. Novelty/Originality of This Study: The research specifications of the uses and gratifications approach in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic prove that conventional media is still needed by millennials in the search for information after the development of new media.

Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) based learning communication is a child's learning process... more Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) based learning communication is a child's learning process that is implemented to help educators connect learning material and real world situations. The research problem is how learning communication strategies based on CTL in improving children's ability to apply learning outcomes in everyday life. This method is a constructivism learning system that builds one's own understanding actively, creatively and productively based on knowledge and learning experiences. The research method is interpretive through a case study approach. Research intensively focuses on one particular object that is studied as a case. The focus of the case study is the process of communicating the learning of teachers and students of the MDIA Potere Elementary School in Makassar City, located on the coast of Makassar City in South Sulawesi Province. This case study was collected from various direct sources in real life from the cases investigated. The results of the study found and categorized learning communication strategies based on CTL encouraging the creation of five forms of learning, namely: relating, experiencing, applying, applying, cooperating, and transferring knowledge. Learning communication strategies tend to increase student awareness in coastal areas showing a low tendency in terms of relating, applying, and cooperating.

The research objective was to map the preachers' da’wa communication skills to the converts in Karomba, Pinrang district.
