A chemotaxonomic study on the resins of Shorea macrophylla, Shorea pinanga, and Shorea hopeifolia... more A chemotaxonomic study on the resins of Shorea macrophylla, Shorea pinanga, and Shorea hopeifolia was conducted. The dichloromethane extracts were separated into neutral and acidic fractions and then analyzed using GC-MS. The neutral fraction analysis revealed that spathulenol, caryophyllene oxide, aromadendrene oxide, and isoaromadendrene epoxide were the major constituents in all three species. Furthermore, the main compound in the neutral fraction of Shorea hopeifolia was isocaryophyllene which was undetected in the other two species. The major constituent of the acidic fraction of the three species was hexadecanoic acid, while pentadecanoic acid was the major constituent in the acidic fraction of Shorea pinanga and Shorea hopeifolia. Therefore, the presence of sesquiterpenes as well as fatty acids in S. macrophylla, S. pinanga, and S. hopeifolia was discovered to be a marker for identifying the genus Shorea.

Honey is an important NTFP with high socio-economic value, and its production involves millions of Indonesians. This article reviews the current status of honey-producing bee management, cultivation and harvesting system, marketing and socio-economic values, and the industry’s environmental function in Indonesia. This research utilized a meta-narrative review method to collect data and information from Google Scholar, Scopus, Science Direct, ResearchGate, Sinta, and Garuda. The study showed that the four bee species, namely Apis mellifera, Apis cerana, Apis dorsata, and stingless bee, are the most common species in honey production in Indonesia. An essential process in making herbal tea on a household scale is the chopping of dried leaves into a powder that is ready to be put into teabags and pressing the teabags. The leaf shredder process can use a chopper and a blender, while the teabag pressing process uses an impulse sealer. This study aims to compare the energy needed by choppers and blenders in making urokep leaf teabag powder, as well as the use of impulse sealers with element lengths of 20 cm and 30 cm. Herbal remedies that are easy to find and easy to consume are an option to increase immunity. There are three herbal remedies that function to increase body immunity from Kalimantan, Indonesia, especially origin on Dipterocarps forest ecosystem, i.e., Pasak Bumi (Eurycoma longifolia Jack.), Akar Kuning (Coscinium fenestratum (Gaertn.) Colebr.) and Bawang Dayak (Eleutherine bulbosa (L.) Merr). The three medicinal plants are easily found in traditional markets and online shopping, and their function to increase the body's immunity.

Bahan organik pembuatan ekstrak pekat dapat menggunakan daun bakau ( Rhizopora mucronata ) banyak ditemukan di daerah mangrove. Penelitian bertujuan untuk membandingkan proses pembuatan inhibitor berupa ekstrak pekat dari daun bakau skala lab dengan skala aplikasi yang lebih besar terkait waktu pemekatan, daya listrik yang digunakan, sifat fisik (berat jenis dan sifat warna), sifat fitokimia (alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin dan tannin) dari ekstrak pekat yang dihasilkan. Pada skala lab, 500 gram daun kering bakau, dilarutkan dalam 500 ml etanol 96%, setelah 2 hari filtrate disaring dan dipekatkan hingga menjadi 10 ml menggunakan rotary evaporator. Secara etnobotani, pembuktian oleh masyarakat sekitar hutan dusun Nyapa Indah telah banyak dijumpai. Oleh karena itu, studi ini menyediakan data uji laboratoris tentang kandungan kimia Daun Ungu Kucing sebagai anti rematik dan asam urat, serta senyawa kimia turunannya yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai alternatif bahan obat herbal aktif lainnya. The cheapest coolant is water, which in the long run can corrode the radiator. To prevent corrosion requires an eco-friendly corrosion inhibitor. One of the corrosion inhibitors found in coastal areas is mangrove (Rhizophora mucronata) leaves. The research aimed to make Mangrove leaves extract as a corrosion inhibitor on steel or iron alloy, identify chemical content of Mangrove leaves extract, and calculating the effect in corrosion rate. 10 kg of dry mangrove leaves, dissolved in 10 liters of 96% ethanol and concentrated into 200 ml. Electrochemical testing using distilled water as media and added with mangrove extracts concentrations were 0, 5, 10, 15, and 20%. A potentiostat/ galvanostat (PGSTAT101) was used to obtain anodic and cathode polarization curves for steel with different concentrations of Mangrove extract. Based on emission spectroscopy, steel or iron alloy contained Fe, Mn, C, Si, and Ni. Based on the GC-MS test result, there are 5 major chemical components of mangrove leaves extracts, i.e., 2-O-methyl hexose, Catechol, 3-O-methyl-d-glucose, Cyclopentyl 4-ethyl benzoate, and 4-O-methyl mannose. Increasing mangroveleaves extracts concentration as steel or iron alloy corrosion inhibitor changes the Tafel diagram downward. Mangroveleaves extracts in water showed corrosion inhibitor of steel or iron alloy efficiency up to 27% at a concentration of 20%.

Pengolahan Tengkawang menjadi lemak diperoleh melalui proses ekstrasi biji tengkawang, yang menga... more Pengolahan Tengkawang menjadi lemak diperoleh melalui proses ekstrasi biji tengkawang, yang mengandalkan pada proses pres biji tersebut. Tradisi pengolahannya masih tradisional sehingga rendemen maupun kualitas hasil olahan minyaknya belum optimal. Dalam studi ini diperkenalkan prototipe alat pres biji Tengkawang bertenaga hidrolik dengan bahan anti karat standar khusus kualitas bahan pangan (stainless stell for food grade) yang berkapasitas tekan hingga 1 ton. Selanjutnya kualitas lemak diuji menggunakan standar SNI 3748-2009 pendekatan uji kualitas lemak Kakao. Hasil uji lemak Tengkawang produksi prototipe ini menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan rendemen optimum mencapai 42,68%. Kualitas lemak yang dihasilkan menunjukkan nilai berat jenis lemak 0,90 g/cm 3 , indeks bias 1,45, titik leleh 31 0 C, bilangan iodium 16,46 mg/kg, bilangan penyabunan 449,21 mg/g dan asam lemak bebas 10,07%. Karakteristik lemak Tengkawang hasil produksi prototipe alat mesin pres hidrolik ini sebanding bahkan lebih baik dari standard kualitas lemak Kakao uji dan dapat langsung diaplikasikan untuk diversifikasi produk lemak Tengkawang lainnya.

Namun, di Dusun Nyapa Indah, Kabupaten Berau, Kalimantan Timur, daun Senna alata yang dikenal sebagai Urokep, secara tradisional rebusan daun keringnya digunakan sebagai obat pelangsing. Untuk meningkatkan kegunaan herbal menjadi produk obat herbal yang aman dikonsumsi khalayak umum, harus dilakukan proses pengilmiahan melalui uji fitokimia dan GC-MS, demikian pula dengan daun Urokep. Hasil uji fitokimia ekstrak etanol daun Urokep menunjukkan bahwa daun Urokep mengandung tannin, alkaloid, flavonoid, steroid dan triterpenoid. Kandungan tannin dan flavanoid dalam buah atau sayur yang dikonsumsi sehari sekali sudah cukup untuk digunakan sebagai program diet. Vierh) merupakan salah satu jenis yang ditemukan di HPP (Hutan Penelitian dan Pendidikan) Barat Muara Kaeli. Secara tradisional, air rebusan buah Api-api di Cina digunakan untuk pengobatan demam, radang tenggorokan dan disentri, sedangkan secara modern buah Api-api telah digunakan menjadi produk olahan makanan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui komponen fitokimia dan menduga kandungan kimia dari buah Apiapi (Avicennia marina (Forssk.) Vierh) dengan menggunakan GC-MS sebagai dasar pertimbangan dalam pemanfaatan buah Api-api pada produk turunan berikutnya. Buah Api-api diperoleh dari pohon Api-api pada titik koordinat N 0°23'55.31" dan E 117°25'33.55", selanjutnya dimaserasi menggunakan etanol 96%. Hasil maserasi etanol 96% yang dipekatkan kemudian diuji fitokimia dan GC-MS. Hasil uji fitokimia buah Api-api (Avicennia marina (Forssk.) Vierh) dengan pelarut etanol 96% mengandung flavonoid, triterpenoid dan steroid. Berdasarkan hasil uji GC-MS pada buah Api-api (Avicennia marina (Forssk.) Vierh) diduga mengandung senyawa γ-sitosterol (C29H55O) sebanyak 13,68%, dibutyl phthalate (C16H22O4) sebanyak 13,42%, Palmitic acid, ethyl ester (C18H36O2) sebesar 7,85%, 9,12-Octadecadienoic acid, ethyl ester (C20H36O2) sebesar 7,56% dan Linolenic acid, ethyl ester (C20H34O2) sebesar 6,33%, undecane (C11H24) sebanyak 7,25%, 2-Propenamide, N-(1-cyclohexylethyl) sebesar 6,78%, dan beberapa senyawa minor lainnya.

Tanaman Bulou (Mikania micrantha Kunth) merupakan salah satu jenis gulma yang sangat mudah tumbuh... more Tanaman Bulou (Mikania micrantha Kunth) merupakan salah satu jenis gulma yang sangat mudah tumbuh dan menyebar. Masyarakat desa Nyapa Indah, Berau, Kalimantan Timur, mengenal tanaman ini dengan sebutan Akar Bulou dan telah menggunakan daunnya sebagai obat luka alami. Pengembangan daun tanaman Akar Bulou sebagai obat luka tradisional perlu mendapat dukungan uji ilmiah. Oleh karena itu, dalam studi ini dilakukan uji ilmiah beberapa karakteristik kimia meliputi uji fitokimia, uji akti oksidan dan senyawa aktifnya agar memperkuat potensi pemanfaatannya sebagai obat luka alternatif. Hasil uji menunjukkan bahwa daun tanaman Akar Bulou mengandung alkaloid, triterpenoid dan steroid. Pada ekstrak Akar Bulou larut etanol 95% memiliki bioaktifitas antioksidan tertinggi pada konsentrasi 25 ppm sebesar 83,31%. Sedangkan untuk senyawa aktifnya, terdapat senyawa alkaloid yang diduga terdapat dalam daun tanaman Akar Bulou adalah 2-(Dimethylamino)-1,3-dimethyltetrahydro-1,3,2-diazaphosphole 2-oxide. Sedangkan Bicyclo[7.2.0]undec-4ene, 4,11,11-trimethyl-8-methylene tergolong dalam terpenoid yang merupakan senyawa metabolit sekunder untuk membantu dalam proses penyembuhan luka.

Problems were found in the field is due to the presence of Coptotermes sp. termite attack in S. leprosula plants resulting to its death. The aims of this study were to determine the percentage and intensity of Coptotermes sp. termite attack. The method used is to perform observations of termite attack in several locations planting, i.e. in KHDTK Samboja (East Kalimantan), KHDTK Sebulu (East Kalimantan), PT INHUTANI II, Pulau Laut (South Kalimantan) and PT Suka Jaya Makmur (West Kalimantan). The results showed that the percentage and intensity of Coptotermes sp. termite attacks in KHDTK Samboja, respectively 7.3% and 4.7%, in KHDTK Sebulu 11.3% and 8.2%, in Inhutani II 5.8% and 5.3% and in PT Suka Jaya Makmur 5.4% and 4.8%. The source of termite attacks in plants in KHDTK Samboja and KHDTK Sebulu was the termite nest contained in secondary forest bordering S. leprosula plantations while the source of the termite attack in plants in Inhutani II and PT Suka Jaya Makmur was the termite nests located between S. leprosula plantations. Finally, Coptotermes sp termite attack disturbed S. leprosula plantation.

Pemungutan buah tengkawang banyak dilakukan masyarakat di populasi alaminya, baik di kebun masyar... more Pemungutan buah tengkawang banyak dilakukan masyarakat di populasi alaminya, baik di kebun masyarakat, hutan adat maupun di hutan alam. Kenyataan yang dihadapi sekarang adalah adanya eksploitasi yang mengancam keberadaan pohon penghasil tengkawang. Permasalahan yang kedua adalah apakah selama ini masyarakat memanen biji tengkawang tersebut secara lestari, sehingga kedepannya keberadaan buah tengkawang tetap ada dan berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan informasi dari masyarakat tentang cara pemanenan buah, produktivitas pohon dan permudaan yang ada di areal penghasil tengkawang di Kabupaten Sanggau. Metode pengumpulan data di dilapangan yaitu :1. wawancara dengan pemilik pohon tengkawang; 2. Pembuatan plot pada setiap pohon yang berbuah; 3. inventarisasi tingkat semai, pancang, tiang dan pohon tengkawang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemanenan buah tengkawang terjadi pada bulan Desember, Januari, Pebruari dan diperkirakan berakhir di bulan Maret. Masa pembungaannya dimulai pada bulan Nopember, Desember dan Januari. Pemanenan buah tengkawang masih dilakukan secara tradisional. Untuk produksi rata-rata 206,14 kilogram buah/pohon. Untuk tingkat regenerasi alami yang paling banyak ditemukan adalah tingkat semai.
