We present a Knowledge-Based Theory and associated hypotheses for testing. A survey design using a case study approach of four organisations in the Petroleum, Energy, Micro Banking, and Education sectors in Ghana was used to collect quantitative data. Data analysis shows the Structural Equation Modelling of the study using Analysis of Moment Structures. The outcome shows a strong and significant relationship between Organisational Performance and Knowledge Management as well as Leadership Style and Organisational Performance. However, results indicate that Leadership Style does not moderate the relationship between Knowledge Management and Organisational Performance. The implication of the study suggests the implementation of comprehensive knowledge management policies through employees to enhance organisational performance.

All the animals were fed in an aluminum cage for 21 days and sacrificed the following day. Blood from the tail of the animal was used for determining blood glucose on the first and the 22nd day of the experiment. Relative to effects of oil extracts, animals fedonkernel samples exhibited improved glucose utilization. The study has shown that consuming Irvingia gabonensis kernel whole was more beneficial than the oil extract and that under unrestricted dietary condition, incorporation of Irvingia gabonensis kernel in animal feed had beneficial effects

Investigating non-suicidal self-injury discussions on Twitter

There are thousands of tweets containing self-harm and self-injury hashtags on Twitter. It is difficult to distinguish between different users who participate in self-injury discussions on Twitter and how their opinions change over time. Also, it is challenging to understand the topics surrounding NSSI discussions on Twitter. We retrieved tweets using #selfharm and #selfinjury hashtags and investigated those from the United kingdom. We applied inductive coding and grouped tweeters into different categories. This study used the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) algorithm to infer the optimum number of topics that describes our corpus. Our findings revealed that many of those participating in NSSI discussions are non-professional users as opposed to medical experts and academics. Support organisations, medical teams, and academics were campaigning positively on raising self-injury awareness and recovery. Using LDAvis visualisation technique, we selected the top 20 most relevant terms from each topic and interpreted the topics as; children and youth well-being, self-harm misjudgement, mental health awareness, school and mental health support and, suicide and mental-health issues. More than 50% of these topics were discussed in England compared to Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Northern Ireland. Our findings highlight the advantages of using the Twitter social network in tackling the problem of selfinjury through awareness. There is a need to study the potential risks associated with the use of social networks among self-injurers

Existing studies have found that people who self-harm find it easier to disclose information regarding their behaviour on social media as compared to in-person interactions. Due to the large and growing volume of user-generated content on YouTube, sources of videos presenting information concerning self-harm and discussions surrounding those videos could be hidden by other contents. By using a categorisation codebook and state-of-the-art topic and sentiment analysis techniques, the authors identified distinct groups of users who uploaded videos about self-harm on YouTube (n=107) and uncovered the topics and sentiments expressed in 27,520 comments. In addition to other sources, our investigations discovered that 56% of the people uploading the examined videos are non-professionals, in contrast to the group of professionals with only 11% of the videos in the sample. In grouping comments based on similar topics, we discovered that self-harming users, clean (recovered) users, at-risk audiences, and appreciative users responded to the examined videos. Viewers responded more positively to 'recovered from self-harm' and 'appreciative' responses, as opposed to 'atrisk ' and 'self-harm' comments with a high negative sentiments. These features could be used to build a classifier, although more research is needed to investigate self-injurious information to better support digital interventions for effective prevention and recovery.

Deep Learning Approaches for Electrical Vehicular Mobility Management: Invited Paper
2019 International Conference on Wireless Networks and Mobile Communications (WINCOM), 2019

Forecasting vehicular trajectories and delay is crucial for EV energy management. The presented work is devoted to the study and the application of deep learning techniques on specific road trajectories. First, exhaustive deep learning algorithms are considered. Second, road traces are converted to time series. Then, delays and road trajectories are analyzed. In fact, we consider two Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN): LSTM (Long Short Term Memory) and GRU (Gated Recurrent Units). Neural Networks are adapted and trained on 60 days of real urban traffic of Rome in Italy. We calculate the Loss function for both machine learning techniques which is defined by mean square error (MSE) and Root mean square error (RMSE). Experimental results demonstrate that both LSTM and GRU are adequate for the context of EV in terms of route trajectory and delay prediction.

The study adopted 14 sampled plots-simple randomly based method, Remote Sensing –Land Use/Land Cover based method for change detection, Vegetation Difference Normalized Index (NDVI) to determine vegetation reflectance, field data and use of allometric model equation for biomass and carbon sink estimation. The Results revealed that there was decrease in the Gmelina arborea plantation in which so many trees were harvested thereby converting part of the reserve to Sapling/Shrubs (i.e. re-generating part). Despite the fast regenerating capacity of Gmelina arborea, there is increase in the number of Sapling/Shrubs size in the Reserve which is an evidence of forest degradation between 2001 and 2006. The vegetation reflectance also revealed that vegetation reflectance is high in 2001and is low in 2006 which also confirms an evidence ...

Personal health-related issues such as mental health, self-harm and depression have been studied because users often share their stories on such platforms. Online users resort to sharing because the empathy and support from online communities are crucial in helping the affected individuals. A preliminary analysis shows how contents related to non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) proliferate on Twitter. Thus, we use Twitter to collect relevant data, analyse, and proffer ways of supporting users prone to NSSI behaviour. Our approach utilises a custom crawler to retrieve relevant tweets from self-reporting users and relevant organisations interested in combating self-harm. Through textual analysis, we identify six major categories of self-harming users consisting of inflicted, anti-self-harm, support seekers, r...

Special attention is given to three contributing factors: (1) organizational culture, (2) management decision-making and high-risk strategy, and (3) failures in corporate governance. A basic argument is that such glaring failures were directly aided by a diffusion of authority where neither the company’s executive leadership nor its corporate board of directors were willing to acknowledge or take responsibility for the actions of the newspaper’s management and professional writing staff. There was an information gap that allowed poor strategic decision-making to occur. The closure of News of the World brought an end to a 168 year old highly successful English-language newspaper.

These comments may contain information that signals a commentator could be at risk of potential harm. Due to a large amount of responses generated from these videos, it is very challenging for social media teams to respond to a vulnerable commentator who is at risk. We considered this issue as a multi-class problem and triaged viewers' comments into one of four severity levels. Using current state-of-the-art classifiers, we propose a model enriched with psycho-linguistic and sentiment features that can detect critical comments in need of urgent support. On average, our model achieved up to 60% precision, recall, and f1-score which indicates the effectiveness of the model.
