Most traditional forecasting models and artificial intelligence neural network techniques have been tried out in this task. Artificial neural networks (ANN) have lately received much attention, and a great number of papers have reported successful experiments and practical tests. This article presents the development of an ANN-based short-term load forecasting model with improved generalization technique for the Regional Power Control Center of Saudi Electricity Company, Western Operation Area (SEC-WOA). The proposed ANN is trained with weather-related data and historical electric load-related data using the data from the calendar years 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004 for training. The model tested for one week at five different seasons, typically, winter, spring, summer, Ramadan and fall seasons, and the mean absolute average error for one hour-ahead load forecasting found 1.12%.

The structural, optical, and photodegradation performance of TNAs with c-Zn material have been compared to the properties of TNAs with the other two CEs like c-Pt (Platinum) and c-Ti (Titanium). The counter electrode has a tremendous influence on the structural properties and geometrical features of TNAs. The TNAs fabricated with c-Zn have the red-shifted absorption edge with two bandgaps such as 3.15 and 1.78 eV. Interestingly, the TNAs with c-Zn are found as the DW TNAs with outer diameter of 130 ± 3 nm, thinner outer wall thickness of 12 ± 2 nm, and thicker inner wall thickness of 30 ± 2 nm. The photodegradation performance varies with different counter electrodes during the deposition of TNAs by the anode oxidation method. The TNAs sample prepared with c-Zn has shown the highest roughness value of 305.0 nm, photodegradation efficiency of 97.0%, and the rate constant value of 0.00985 min−1 than the other TNAs with c-Pt, c-Ti, and other researcher's data. Moreover, the optical, structural, and surface morphological properties of TNAs have correlated with the photodegradation performance of TNAs prepared with various counter electrodes during deposition.

In the present study, a model was developed to confirm that the ball burnishing of AISI 8620 steel affects its microstructures, roughness, and residual stress. As a part of the process, the influence of different parameters on the residual stress surface in the axial direction was investigated. Samples were prepared by heat treatment and turning. The ball-burnishing process was performed, and the improvements on the surface and subsurface integrity were found to be significant. Residual stress after ball burnishing was found to be affected by pressure and feed rate to a statistically significant extent. Stress was found to be in the form of compression. The steel displayed significant improvements in surface roughness and residual stress following burnishing. The linear regression models derived from the data for the relationship between burnishing factors and residual stress offer R 2 values of 80.88%. Results suggest that the ball-burnishing process enhanced the properties of AISI 8620 steel.

Unfortunately, OLDU has not been extensively studied in Middle East. Our study aimed to evaluate the extent of OLDU in Saudi Arabia. Methods: Retrospective study carried out during 12 month period at six tertiary hospitals in Saudi Arabia. Each prescription was evaluated as unlicensed or OLDU based on the product information or based on Food and drug Administration (FDA) approval. Results: A total of 288 prescriptions were analyzed, where the reasons for off-label prescribing were OLDU by indication (94.42%), OLDU by different age group (2.09%), and other reasons represented (3.48%). Adults/geriatrics (≥18 years) received (89.05%) of the orders, and children (1-11 years) received (7.78%) of the orders. Both adolescents (12-18 years) and neonates (1-29 days) received (1.42%) of the orders per each category, whil...

Several recipes have been developed to optimise the gate dielectric for targeted EOT, high mobility and improved EOT uniformity. Compared to conventional furnace oxynitride, significant gate leakage reduction has been found in devices with plasma nitrided oxides. This enabled reaching the spec for the I OFF current of 20 pA/µm and improve the I ON -I OFF trade-off. The I ON current obtained at 1.2 V for NMOS and PMOS devices is 427 µA/µm (at I OFF =16 pA/µm) and 170 µA/µm (at I OFF =16 pA/µm), respectively. The obtained results are among the best values reported in the literature.

Optimization problems are very complex in real life applications. The proposed modified PSO consists of problem (complexity) dependent variable number of promising values (in velocity vector), error-iteration dependent step length, unlocking the dead look of idle particles and so on. It reliably and accurately tracks a continuously changing solution of the complex function and no extra concentration/effort is ...

A linear model for the power system is presented and analysed. The eigenvalue analysis of the model has shown the existence of an unstable mechanical mode. To overcome this instability problem, a power system stabilizer based on a lead-lag compensator is introduced. Parameters of the proposed power system stabilizer have been chosen and tuned carefully in order to give the system an adequate performance. Digital time simulations indicate that the stabilizer has resulted in a significant improvement in system performance.
