Digital learning platforms and virtual classrooms are growing more widespread, so virtual classro... more Digital learning platforms and virtual classrooms are growing more widespread, so virtual classroom management is gaining more importance to ensure student engagement, involvement, and achievements in an online learning environment. The research examines virtual classroom management dynamics and explores the factors that render teachers' virtual classroom management practices, strategies, and expectations in this regard. The study is phenomenological research, and data was collected through open-ended questions with 22 lower secondary school teachers working in Istanbul. The findings were gathered under four themes: virtual classroom management process, professional development, opportunities and challenges of virtual classrooms, and solutions to virtual classroom management problems. These results highlight the significance of engagement and motivation toward virtual classrooms and propound teachers' digital competencies and classroom management skills as two fundamental factors in fostering students' engagement in virtual classrooms.
We report the results of an EU-funded project and its impact on participating teachers. Teachers ... more We report the results of an EU-funded project and its impact on participating teachers. Teachers participating in the project had practically no previous knowledge of game-based education whereas they got a thorough understanding of it at the end of the project. In addition, and most importantly, teachers had to guide pupils in designing and implementing computer games. In a way, teachers became software developers, and this is definitely something that strengthens the profiles of the teaching professions. Thus, these EU-funded projects can be beneficial for teachers if teams select interesting projects.

Although Internet Addiction is not listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Diso... more Although Internet Addiction is not listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, it is an increasingly prevalent problem that affects a lot of people, including pupils. Erasmus+ Strategic partnerships, which are co-funded by the Erasmus+ Program of the European Union, allow schools to form partnerships that work on projects that are usually not covered by curricula. A group of six schools formed such a partnership to study the responsible use of the Internet. Quite naturally, one of the goals of the project was to see if pupils are addicted to Internet and if they are to help them with all possible ways. Indeed, we have found that some pupils suffer from Internet addiction and we helped the general population to become less addicted to Internet.

Hukuki olarak farklı adlar ile anılsa da sığınmacılar ve mülteciler, genel bir ifade ile ellerind... more Hukuki olarak farklı adlar ile anılsa da sığınmacılar ve mülteciler, genel bir ifade ile ellerinde olmayan zorunlu nedenler yüzünden kendi yurtlarından göçe zorlanmış ve başka ülkelere kaçmış insanlardır. Yerel toplumun sığınmacılara yönelik besledikleri önyargının ölçülmesi birçok ülke politikası için gerekli bir veridir. Bu nedenlerle, ülkemiz için oldukça önemli görülen sığınmacılar konusuna bir katkı sunması adına Anderson (2018)'un Sığınmacılara Yönelik Önyargı Ölçeği Türkçeye uyarlanmıştır. Ölçek maddeleri çeviri işlemi adımlarına uygun olarak Türkçeye çevrilmiştir. Ölçeğin Türkçe hali dil ve kültür açısından uzmanlarca değerlendirilmiştir. Ölçek üniversite öğrencilerine uygulanmış ve analizler farklı örneklem sayıları üzerinden yapılmıştır. Açımlayıcı faktör analizi için 345, doğrulayıcı faktör analizi için 255 ve ölçüt geçerliliği için 97 üniversite öğrencisinden veri toplanmıştır. AFA sonucunda çıkan 11 maddelik ve tek boyutlu yapı toplam varyansın %47'sini açıklamıştır. Maddelerin yük değerleri .792 ile .489 arasında değişmiştir. Tek boyutlu yapı DFA sonucunda yeterli uyum indeksleri vermiştir. Ölçüt geçerliliğinde, iç tutarlılık katsayıları ve %27'lik t-testi sonuçlarında anlamlı ve yeterli değerler elde edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak ölçeğin Türkçeye uyarlanmış halinin hem tek boyutlu hem de iki boyutlu yapıda kullanılabileceği düşünülmektedir.

In this study, we aimed to reach the opinions and feedback of university-school partnership stake... more In this study, we aimed to reach the opinions and feedback of university-school partnership stakeholders about the university-school partnership. In this direction, the stakeholders' opinions and experiences regarding the partnership were analyzed. The study is in phenomenological research design, and semi-structured interviews were conducted with 60 participants: teachers, student teachers, lecturers, students, parents, and administrators. Content analysis results show that the feedback and assessments of the university-school partnership stakeholders were grouped under the themes of the assessment method, criticism, and expectations, and several sub-themes under each theme. In line with these findings, we tried to reveal the most crucial points in developing and maintaining university-school partnerships. In addition, at the end of the study, we indicated some suggestions such as essential quality indicators for partnerships, providing open communication channels, clearly expressed roles and responsibilities, strong relations via trust and mutual benefit, and a participatory decision-making process.

Yaratıcılık, tanımlanması, ölçülmesi ve geliştirilmesi bir o kadar karmaşık olmasının yanı sıra e... more Yaratıcılık, tanımlanması, ölçülmesi ve geliştirilmesi bir o kadar karmaşık olmasının yanı sıra en önemli 21.yy becerileri arasında yer bulmaktadır. Yaratıcılık kavramının karmaşık yapısının etkileri eğitim ortamlarında çocukların yaratıcılığını geliştirme çabasına da yansımaktadır. Bu çabada önemli değişkenlerden biri de öğretmenlerdir. Öğretmenler yaratıcılık becerilerinin gelişiminde kritik role sahiplerdir. Bu çalışmada, öğretmen adaylarının yaratıcılığı destekleme düzeyleri, cinsiyet, akademik başarı, yaratıcılık eğitimi ve öğretmenlik lisans programı değişkenleri bağlamında incelenmiştir. Çalışma nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden genel tarama modeli ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada Soh (2000) tarafından geliştirilen ve Dikici (2013) tarafından Türkçe'ye uyarlanan "Yaratıcılığı Destekleyen Öğretmen İndeksi Ölçeği" kullanılmıştır. Dördüncü sınıf, 272 lisans öğrencisi ile gerçekleştirilen çalışmada öğretmen adaylarının yaratıcılığı destekleme düzeylerinin yüksek olduğu; kadın öğrencilerin erkek öğrencilerden daha yüksek oranda yaratıcılığı destekleyen davranışlara sahip oldukları belirlenmiştir. Çalışma için önemli bulgulardan biri de öğretmenlik lisans programları arası anlamlı farklılığın olmasıdır. Bulgulara ilişkin sonuçlar ayrıntılı olarak tartışılmış ve ileriki çalışmalara önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
