ABSTRACT In the present work, the Selective Harmonic Elimination Pulse width Modulation SHE-PWM i... more ABSTRACT In the present work, the Selective Harmonic Elimination Pulse width Modulation SHE-PWM is used to improve the output voltage quality of the AC/AC choppers. To achieve the requirement of the SHE-PWM such as a desired fundamental magnitude and the elimination of the low order harmonics contained in the output voltage, two heuristic and evolutionary algorithms were used. The problem of the SHEPWM is presented by a constrained nonlinear objective function which has to be minimized. The main aim is the calculation of the switching angles vector solution presenting the best minimal value for the objective function. The results obtained with the present application show the effectiveness of the use of the Particle Swarm Optimization. On the other side, the application of the PSO with SHE-PWM is a promising solution which can make a great improvement with different power electronics converters.

ABSTRACT This paper presents the stabilization of the input DC voltages of five-level diode-clamp... more ABSTRACT This paper presents the stabilization of the input DC voltages of five-level diode-clamped (FLDC) voltage source inverters (VSI). We propose a cascade circuit consisting of a FLDC rectifier a FLDC VSI. First, the different cascade parts and their control strategies are presented. The stability problem of the input DC voltages of the inverter is investigated. To remedy to this problem, two solutions are proposed: the first one uses the linear feedback control algorithm and the second one uses the non-linear control by the Lyapunov technique at the FLDC rectifiers. As an application, the performances of the double star induction machine (DSIM), as fed by the cascade, are observed. The obtained results are full of promise concerning the use of multilevel diode clamped inverters in high voltage/high power applications such as electrical traction.

The main aim of the presented matrix converter is to be used with wind generator for grid connected applications. A comparison study between the two control strategies is achieved according to the quality of the output voltage and current under typical R-L load based on the THD evaluation. Simulation results are presented for the validation of the two control strategies and to clarify the main advantages and drawbacks of both strategies.

The multiphase induction machine is feeding by a matrix converter using a three-phase network. Special emphasis is given to the sinusoidal five phase voltage in the output and five phase voltage input current modulation. Simulation results are presented.
