Starting their first step towards post-graduate studies, students struggle to be active researchers. They find it difficult to do their postgraduate studies. This study investigates the beliefs, and perceptions of students in the process of getting well-developed postgraduate research and the steps they should follow in thinking and performance. This article seeks to gain more details about knowledge, skills, attitudes, values, and ethics that should be found in the process of doing research. A twofold survey was developed to get links between both students and supervisors and results are statically analyzed. Results indicate that researchers can build information literacy in a different way than if they know if they are aware of the academic identity of postgraduate work and change the thinking and working processes. They must follow certain strategies to build their knowledge and some techniques to safely develop their critical thinking skills. Specific ethics must also be followed to keep productive relationships with their supervisors. In the same vein, supervisors are required to follow some specific rules to keep them on track and guide their cognitive development. results show that the chi-square is significant at 0.01 or 0.05. The findings indicate that students often struggle with critical thinking skills, data analysis, and the ability to synthesize information. They also express a need for more structured support from supervisors, highlighting a gap between student expectations and supervisor availability.

A text in a particular field of discourse is organized into lexical patterns that can be visualized as networks of words that collocate with each other to build a certain meaning. This idea has important theoretical implications for understanding the relationship between the text and the discourse community in the writer's and translator's minds. This article demonstrates how certain words work together to reflect certain perspectives of social life and the writer's ideology, particularly when the intended message relies on understanding the sociolinguistic context in which collocations is used. This study also examines how meaning is conveyed and preserved through lexical patterns in Naguib Mahfouz's Cairo Trilogy. It also employs a descriptive, analytical method to identify types of collocational networks and applies Baker's model, which involves identifying different types of collocations based on their semantic and grammatical properties and Newmark's culture categorizations. The data were analyzed using Sketch Engine software, and the corpus size consisted of 573069 tokens, 481254 words, and 33905 sentences. The data distribution shows that content words, especially nouns and adjectives, are most frequently used. The collocational structure mostly used is noun + adjective, followed by verb + adjective and adverb, indicating that descriptive language is mainly used.

Its crucial roles extended to all fields not only entertainment or science but also all what you can access on the internet. Thus, translation is not just a speech-oriented process, but a cultural and somehow religious communicative act taking place within a definite semiotic space in a cross-cultural perspective, where subtitles are meant for an international audience. The main aim of the present study is a threefold one: first, to linguistically find out semiotic resources that work cohesively with the subtitled text; second, to find out what subtitling strategies are employed and integrated with a wide range of semiotic resources to construct meaning by reflecting on people's political and social awareness; third, to determine what speech acts are appropriately employed to help in creating adequate meaning. An interdisciplinary approach is applied as Gottlieb’s is used to identify strategies, Kress, and van Leeuwen’s to define semiotic modes, and Sereal’s to pragmatically elaborate on them. Results showed that different strategies are used, with brilliance in integrating all semiotic modes to communicate and render different messages to the audience. Nine of Gottlieb's strategies are employed with different percentages; the most frequent strategy is transfer and the least frequent one is dislocation. Finally informative and expressive speech acts are the most saliant ones.

This definition is general enough as it covers that those who use the term stylistics would want to be covered by it. The undertaken study is a functional corpus-based stylistic analysis of a text in which the writer uses linguistic features like adjectives, nouns, conjunctions, and sentence complexity to portray the social and cultural conditions of the texts. The main concern is to analyse the linguistic patterns to illustrate how certain stylistic devices work together to reflect certain perspectives of social life and the writer's ideology. Thus, this study aims to stylistically analyse the lexical and semantic devices and features in Reem Bassiouney's novel "Mortal Designs." The data were analysed using AntConc software (version 4.0.10) with the help of TagAnt 2.0.4. The corpus size consisted of 71208 words. The paper highlights what is striking about Bassiouney's narrative style. Leech and Short's list is used as a

E-learning in Egypt is still facing a lot of problems and challenges that are not only technological but also social and cultural and other technical ones. This paper explores another possible reason-a mismatch between learning orientation and e-learning design in the form of inappropriate implementation of teaching or learning strategies during implementation. So, the purpose of this paper is, firstly, reflecting on the application of e-learning in the courses of university learners in Egypt; secondly, to review empirical studies on solutions to problems encountered in university stage in relation to e-learning; thirdly, to analyze the social and cultural prospects of e-learning application for Egyptian students. Some suggested ideas are discussed, and some reflections are presented about new technologies used. Still, there are some cultural and social aspects about e-learning implementation in Egypt. Major problems are lack of experience, cost of developing courses or weak infrastructure, and negative attitudes of some families.

The research sheds light on the role of perceptual and central attention in the encoding, maintenance, and manipulation of information in learners' working memory while defining their styles of learning, which determine their learning strategy. the study used the quantitative qualitative method to each the answers for questions. The participants are 60 students at the General Department, Faculty of Education, Damanhour University. Results show a positive relationship between working memory and approaches to learning with students at a higher level of production. Students at a lower level of production seem to use complex approaches to learning. Working memory is assessed by a speaking span test that taxes the processing and storage functions of working memory during sentence production. Results suggest that the functional capacity of working memory varies with the processing characteristics of the task being performed. A learning style questionnaire was used to recognize learners' learning styles. The research concludes with a discussion of how learning styles and working memory interact to create learners who speak fluently.

In so doing they are trying hard to improve their human resources through the educational system, which is the corner stone of the desired progress. Most scholars emphasize not only using technology in our life creatively, but also preparing learners for the future in the same way. E-learning, as a trend in education, is a significant topic of discussion within institutions for its’ significance in terms of finances, learner enrollment and meaningful learning.

These films reduce the gab of viewers' different cultures and social values and represent a good source of imagination and love. The old romantic story of Aladdin lives in most children's minds and hearts till now, used to highlight the eastern cultural identity in the current film and the change of Arabian cultural discourse. The study aims at identifying different cultural aspects, values, and the shift of Disney's visualization of the Arabian identity. Kress and Van Leeuwen and Fairclough are used as theoretical frameworks to analyze the discourse of the film. Results indicate a noticeable change in Disney's views about the Arabian identity with continuous bias to the power of American culture and a final focus on the Arabian values. Consequently, more studies are recommended to be conducted about the film and its different effects on different sides of both societies. More deep analysis is required to get cultures closer and more understanding toward each other.

His final speech in the ceremony of Almawlad Elnabawy; the anniversary of the birth of Prophet Mohamed PBH) has a great impact on attracting others' vision of Islam and Islamic life. The importance of this speech comes from its coinciding with the movements calling to leave Prophet's Sunna (PBH) and adhere only to the book of God (Qur'aan). The main aim of the current study is to clarify the extent to which the speaker managed to formulate the essence of ideal Islam and unity of its elements as one body. Islam as a moderate central thought comes only from adhering to this religious aspects and being away from distortion and extremism, at a time when Islam is accused of terrorism. Thus, the current study sheds light on the recent social religious discourse, and how the speaker reformulates Islamic identity within his speech through linguistic discourse analysis for his talk. The research theoretical framework is based on Halliday and Matthiessen 's (2014) Systemic Functional Grammar (SFG) approach that presents a theory of language based on purpose and choice that it is concerned with what speakers are doing when they use language and why on particular occasions of use they formulate their utterances in the way they do.

Cultural problems may occur mainly in the translation of sociocultural topics, especially in case of sophisticated literatures like, proverbs, folk, myths, satire, humour, etc and especially in relation to idioms, images similes and metaphors. One of the areas full of figures is the public Egyptian folk "Mawwal" in which there is one unique life of Egyptian society. This type of literary work is chosen due to its great role in formulating the Egyptian identity in the 60s and 70s. The present paper attempts to examine some strategies in non-equivalence translation, and finds out cultural problems. The data is collected from the recorded song entitled Badreya, transcribed into Arabic then translated into English. Translation strategies for dealing with non-equivalence proposed by Baker (1992) are applied as a theoretical framework for the research. Results show some cultural problems and some strategies of translation are focused on this study.

In his emotional, informative, persuasive, or motivational speech act, he shows respect to Egyptian women and a human touch that is directed to all the Egyptian categories. This paper aims at investigating politicians' effect on their audience by examining specific types of utterances, or speech acts, they use when delivering their speeches to support their people. The paper applies the Charteris-Black's (2014) persuasion theory as a framework for analyzing presidential speeches to have a better understanding of the political purpose of these speeches. The theory provides a vehicle to classify speech acts to reveal the linguistic and political underpinnings that President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi represent during crucial events in the life of Egyptian people with reference to women's role. Results of the analysis have provided evidence of the fact that socio-political events witnessed by the country have a great impact on the types of speech acts performed by the Egyptian president in presidential speeches with different motives.

The language used by editors in news reports is very influential in attaining the communicative intent of such news reports, and they are constructed and manipulated to achieve specific purposes. The speech act is a part of pragmatics by which one knows what is meant beyond what is said. Thus, the present study investigates the types and functions of speech acts employed in CNN and BBC reports about both Egyptian and American events, namely, the blockade of the Supreme Constitutional Court (ESCCB) on December 2, 2012, and the American Capitol riot (ACR) on January 6, 2021, to find out if writers represent their social ideology in the coverage of both events. The present study applies John R. Searle's speech act theory as a framework to analyze the selected reports with a dataset of over 270,150 words on both sites about both events. Data is treated by MAXQDA software program. The results revealed that the writers of both sites are not biased against the case of the blockade and riot, but instead they are defending the stance of the law authority.
