However, EON resource utilization and QoS provisions are affected by dynamic traffic with variable parameters and needs created by new applications and services. This paper presents a flexible QoS scheme using optimized slice assignment to resolve traffic dynamism challenges. That scheme balances wavelength slice allocation and irregular traffic rates, integrating real-time and required parameters employing the designed slots' cost optimization. It consists to transform an input surface vertices into signals,and uses wavelet network parameters for signal approximations. To prove this, we use a wavelet network architecture founded on several mother wavelet families. POLYnomials WindOwed with Gaussians (POLYWOG) wavelet families are used to maximize the probability to select the best wavelets which ensure the good generalization of the network. To achieve a better reconstruction, the network is trained several iterations to optimize the wavelet network parameters until the error criterion is small enough. Experimental results will shown that our proposed technique can effectively reconstruct an irregular 3D object models when using the optimized wavelet network parameters. But due to the development of applications and services, new requirements are created in terms of, specifically resource utilization and QoS provision. To meet these demands, AON enabled core node architecture with multiple wavelength converters’ types involving full range wavelength converter (FRWC) having a significant cost. To reduce the cost, a hybrid AON with composite node architecture combining wavelength converters (WC), Fiber delay line (FDL), and wavelength range (WR) are introduced. In this architecture, fixed and limited wavelength converters (FXWC, LRWC) are utilized while the FRWC converter is replaced by FDL. However, the important issue is how to optimize resource usage and satisfy traffic constraints for improving network performance and design. This paper proposes a dynamic approach that optimizes the resource in terms of link capacity and FDL (fiber delay line) buffering as well as a wavelength converter. The proposed approach decreases the resources usage and guarantees QoS support for various traffic demands. The optimization strategy consists of two stages: path building and traffic management. Planning is a major issue in optical networks, since switch design and data transmission costs are essential criteria in OLS networks. In this paper, we use a novel OLS node architecture to build planning and dimensioning of OLS network based on a set of QoS parameters. We address the issue of providing the differentiated services to IP traffic through the use of optical buffering and link capabilities. We also formulate dimenesioning and optimization problems using a conservation law and queuing model. Finally, we evaluate the performance of the proposed model through simulation.

In order to support the fast growing demand for transmission capacity, Optical Label Switching te... more In order to support the fast growing demand for transmission capacity, Optical Label Switching technology (OLS) seems to be a strong candidate because it allows fast switching capability and Quality of Service (QoS) support. One of the main aspects in OLS networks is the development of a QoS scheme that can efficiently handle QoS provision and resource utilization. OLS technology was made to support a static QoS model in which the service differentiation is defined based on the concept of priority. In this paper, we propose a novel QoS model using dynamic performance parameters. Our approach provides dynamic per-hop information of each traffic type in OLS core using two parameters: loss and delay, and redefines the fundamental functionality of an OLS core node including: an enhanced signaling, which handles lightpath establishment, and a novel contention resolution. A theoretical model is developed for evaluating the performance of the proposed model by means of a conservation law and a queuing network model. Finally, the performance of the proposed model is analyzed using simulation.

Optical label switching (OLS) has been proposed as promising technology for providing seamless in... more Optical label switching (OLS) has been proposed as promising technology for providing seamless integration of data transmission and optical networking while supporting data burst and packet handling using label paradig m. The current status of OLS technology can insure fast switching, contention resolution and QoS provision. The main issue in OLS networks is how to improve network efficiency according to traffics requirements, since resources managing and traffic trans mission are fundamental criteria that can influence the networking platform design. Imp roving network efficiency in OLS networks can be achieved using grooming traffic along transmission path or Label Switching Path (LSP) for providing a balance between resources allocation and utilizat ion. In this paper, we proposed a real-t ime traffic groo ming scheme through the use of an upgraded OLS core node architecture that can efficiently integrate several input traffics on the unique output port. The proposed scheme tries to increase the usage of the available resources in terms of Optical Delay Line (ODL) and wavelength conversion. This scheme introduces a new label switching framework that transports the requested information for handling suitably the grooming procedure, especially traffic requirements and real-time reachable resources. In addit ion, the p roposed scheme perfo rms a set of advanced functions including signaling tasks, resources allocation and utilizat ion mechanisms as well as dynamic QoS management. Finally, theoretical model and simu lation work will be conducted in order to validate our proposal and evaluate its performances and effectiveness.
