The aim is to have a mobile robot follow a given reference path autonomously. The Model Predictive Controller (MPC) is a controller which anticipates control input depending on system current states. The Prediction and Control Horizon depends on the states of the system. So, for high speed applications more storage space of the computed states may arise, which intern results to large computational time of Model Predictive Controller. To resolve this problem an Explicit Model Predictive Controller is implemented. Solicitation of MPC regulators with short on-line computationalmandate and firm sampling by varying the affliction of optimization to the off-line controller design phase is guaranteed by Multi Parametric Model Predictive Control (MP-MPC).

The ultraviolet/microwave (UV/MW) process showed higher efficiency in all the aspects evaluated in this study. The energy consumption was equivalent to 1.94 × 10 -4 kW h mg -1 L (UV/MW), while in the UV process the value was 1.20 × 10 -2 kW h mg -1 L. The degradation kinetics were applied to the FLX, with rate constant (k) = 0.15 ± 0.01 min -1 and linear correlation coefficient (R 2 ) = 0.980 for UV, and k = 6.15 ± 0.08 min -1 and R 2 = 0.998 for UV/MW. The FLX degradation of 99.16% (UV/MW 5 min) and 98.90% (UV 120 min) were observed, evidencing higher efficiency for the first process. The monitoring of transformation products (TPs) through chromatographic analysis enabled the identification of 9 TPs, proving that for the UV/MW process, the hydroxylated structures are verified in high quantity.

The most widely used dc-dc converters are highly non-linear dynamical systems. Designing a control technique has been a most promising control area. One of the robust non-linear sliding mode controllers has been proved by researchers to be having large signal stability and providing good dynamic response. But the complicated design of the controller as well as the problems encountered during practical implementation gives rise to the necessity to design a controller which gives better performance than the former case and simple in structure and design. The traditional linear three mode PID (Proportional Integral Derivative) controllers which are the most common control algorithm in industries can be properly tuned so that they overcome the performance of the former case. The Bacterial Foraging Optimization Algorithm and Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm have been used for t...

The image captured in near-infrared region is converted into grey scale and made to undergo CLAHE twice to achieve an amplification limited contrast enhancement of all the objects in the image. Blood-vein textural features are enhanced using the efficient Gabor filtering method and the blood vein is extracted from the image using Otsu’s thresholding method. Erosion is performed for better accuracy of vein segments identified, and region of interest (ROI) is identified to increase the efficiency of the blood-vein detection.

Emissions of aerosols and gases are influenced by the temperature in the spark location which is a function of process parameters. This work aims at the characterization of hydrocarbons generated from the EDM process, in which kerosene is used as dielectric, for varying process parameters. Methods/Statistical Analysis: The experiment was designed using Taguchi L9 orthogonal array to study the influence of parameters of process on exposure. Die electrical level, Peak current Pulse Duration and flushing pressure were the parameters of process taken into account in this research. Findings: The breathing zone concentrations of emissions were sampled for gases and aerosols and these samples are analyzed for hydrocarbons using gas chromatography mass spectrometry analysis. The analysis results are compared with the exposure limit values or threshold limit values specified by the standard agencies and appropriate control measures were suggested.

A small signal model is developed using Switching Flow Graph (SFG) from which the control coefficients for the PID controller is selected. PID based SMC uses a control law which constrains the weighted sum of the voltage error, its derivatives and the integral of the voltage error to zero. The equivalent control technique is used in its design which makes the converter more suitable for fixed frequency operation. Sensitivity of these controllers to supply voltage disturbances and load disturbances is studied and results are presented.

A multilevel STATCOM is a combination of high voltage converter and low voltage converter with an energy source. STATCOM use either a battery or storage element as the energy bank. Most probably STATCOM consists of capacitors as reactive power supplying or reactive power absorbing element. During the operation of STATCOM, the capacitor voltage may vary from its value, there the importance of this work. A new control strategy is introduced in this paper in focus on the capacitor voltage. An experimental model is developed by using MATLAB SIMULINK block and the result shows that the STATCOM along with the new control technique perform satisfactorily.
