What factors lead to the continuation of the violence? When does the violence remain purely militaristic and when does it become vicious and involve acts of humiliation? What causes enemies and alliances to change as quickly as they do? These are questions that have attempted to answer in their scholarly work.
Iraq in order to oust Saddam and destroy the threat of Iraq building weapons of mass destruction.... more Iraq in order to oust Saddam and destroy the threat of Iraq building weapons of mass destruction. 1 On April 9, only 20 days after the invasion, resistance in the city of Baghdad succumbed and US forces took control. 2 Although this conquest was considered a great victory, the collapse of the Iraqi state has only proved to increase problems for the US military. 3 Capturing Saddam Hussein on December 13 of the same year caused more problems for American and British troops, as it opened a wider space for the insurgency efforts. 4 Iraq was plunged into sectarian conflict.
