In particular European Parliament, Council of Ministers and European Commission suffer from democratic deficit. Main problem of European Parliament, in this regard, is the low turnout rate to the parliamentary elections and overrated representation of the big states. Council of Ministers, on the other hand, is problematic because of its decision-making processes and sovereign representation of the member states. European Commission has problems of democratic deficit due to its composition and sovereign representation of the union itself. Considering all of this, we can easily claim that European Union appears as a democratic international organization but in practice, it has several democracy problems.

Starting from that very date, new continent is visited by a considerable amount of Europeans and over time visitors turn into residents. Europeans' residence in American continent is accompanied with a new concept to English language called colonization and it becomes a controversial issue which is discussed by philosophers and intellectuals from its beginning to this very day in terms of ethics. Some claim that Europeans are right to colonize new continent and vindicate them while some others assert the reverse by implying that colonization is an unjust act. When it comes to the early modern philosophers, it might be asserted that Locke is one of the philosophers who finds colonization fair. His theory of initial acquisition seems to justify the colonization although Locke's reasoning is not enough convincing.

Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq has been independent countries in this period and the establishment of the State of Israel in Palestine in 1948 has added a new variable to the equation. The Middle Eastern countries which were under the mandate of either England or France have struggled to build their own nation-states and in this process, they have experienced many troubles connected with each other in and out of the countries. The establishment of the Hashemite Dynasty in 1932 has brought out the independence for Iraq but the influence of Englishmen over Iraq has proceeded till 1950s. 1 Likewise, Syria has been given to the control of France after the San Remo Conference held in Italy in April 1920 and remained such till 1946. 2 Moreover, the presence of Englishmen in Egypt has continued until Gamal Abdel Nasser has come to power and the gulf countries have been ruled by the English protectorate for longer times. The foreign mandates and protectorates in the Middle East has shaped and changed people, military and bureaucratic elites, ideological approaches and foreign policies of each and every Middle Eastern countries. The political and military existence of France and England in the Middle East has made Arabs frustrated and violent, given the establishment of the State of Israel in Palestine with the permission and support of England. Consequently, the monarchies which were easily used by Western powers have been overthrown by military coups and the authoritarian regimes have emerged.
