For the first time, we have shown that spin coating and Dip pen nanolithography (DPN TM ) are sim... more For the first time, we have shown that spin coating and Dip pen nanolithography (DPN TM ) are simple methods of preparing energetic materials such as PETN and HMX on the nanoscale, requiring no heating of the energetic material. Nanoscale patterning has been demonstrated by the DPN method while continuous thin films were produced using the spin coating method. Results are presented for preparing continuous PETN thin films of nanometer thickness by the spin coating method and for controlling the architecture of arbitrary nanoscale patterns of PETN and HMX by the DPN method. These methods are simple for patterning energetic materials and can be extended beyond PETN and HMX, opening the door for fundamental studies at the nanoscale.

In this longitudinal study, we analyze data from 561 firms located in 15 countries on five continents to illustrate how the cultural dimensions of institutional collectivism and power distance predict social responsibility values on the part of top management team members. CEO visionary leadership and integrity were also uniquely predictive of such values.

The extraction of nitric acid by tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP), tri-sec-butyl phosphate (TsBP) and ... more The extraction of nitric acid by tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP), tri-sec-butyl phosphate (TsBP) and tri-iso-amyl phosphate (TiAP) solutions in n-dodecane are reported. The results indicate that increase in carbon chain length of the alkyl group of the phosphate as well as introduction of branching near the phosphoryl (P=O) group of the phosphate do not affect significantly the extraction of nitric acid.

Electron beam therapy at extended SSDs: an analysis of output correction factors for a Mitsubishi linear accelerator

The effects of extended source-to-surface distance (SSD) on the electron beam dose profiles were ... more The effects of extended source-to-surface distance (SSD) on the electron beam dose profiles were evaluated for various electron beam energies - 6, 9, 12, 15 and 20 MeV - and the accuracy of various output correction methods was analysed on a Mitsubishi linear accelerator using a radiation field analyser (RFA). The dose fall-off region of the central axis depth-dose curves was nearly independent for SSDs up to 120 cm where as in the build-up region, a marginal reduction of surface dose was observed, particularly for lower energies and for smaller field sizes. Effective SSDs and virtual source distances were evaluated for field sizes ranging from 5 × 5 to 15 × 15 cm2 for various energies. Curve fitting was done with the measured outputs with various equations and coefficients were evaluated. The accuracy of the derived output correction factors by effective SSD, virtual source distance and curve-fit methods was assessed by evaluating correlation coefficients between the calculated and the measured values. The correlation coefficient was best with the linear-quadratic equation followed by the effective SSD method and the virtual source method. The output correction based on the linear-quadratic equation showed the best estimate of electron beam output at extended SSDs with an accuracy well within +/-1%. The rapid reduction of dose due to the applicator-scattered component at dmax point with an extended SSD was significant for the 5 × 5 cm2 applicator and lower energies.

Structural and optical properties of thermally evaporated antimony telluride thin films

Antimony telluride thin films were prepared on the well-cleaned glass substrates under a pressure... more Antimony telluride thin films were prepared on the well-cleaned glass substrates under a pressure of 10 – 5 torr by thermal evaporation method. The thicknesses of the films were measured using Multiple Beam Interferometer (MBI) technique. The structure of the sample was analyzed by X-ray diffraction technique. The film attains crystalline structure as the temperature of the substrate is increased to 373 K. The d spacing and the lattice parameters of the sample were calculated. Optical behavior of the film samples with the various thicknesses was analyzed by obtaining their transmittance spectra in the wavelength range of 400 – 800 nm. The transmittance is found to decrease with increase in film thickness and also it falls steeply with decreasing wavelength. The optical constants were estimated and the results are discussed. The optical band gap energy decreases with increase in the film thickness. The optical transition in these films is found to be indirect and allowed.

Thin films of (Sb 2 Te 3 ) 70 (Bi 2 Te 3 ) 30 were prepared by thermal evaporation. The compositi... more Thin films of (Sb 2 Te 3 ) 70 (Bi 2 Te 3 ) 30 were prepared by thermal evaporation. The composition of the film was confirmed by energy dispersive analysis (EDAX). X-ray diffraction studies showed that the film was polycrystalline with grain size of 4.39 Å and with a preferred orientation in the (0 1 5) directions. Al/((Sb 2 Te 3 ) 70 (Bi 2 Te 3 ) 30 )/Al (MSM) thin film capacitors are formed and its AC and dielectric studies were carried out using a digital LCR metre at various frequencies (12 Hz-100 kHz) and temperatures (303-483 K). The dielectric constant for a film of thickness 3000 Å was found to be 86 for 1 kHz at room temperature. The temperature coefficient of capacitance (TCC) and temperature coefficient of permittivity (TCP) were estimated as 684 and 1409 ppm/K for 10 kHz at 303 K, respectively. The activation energy was estimated as 1.190 eV for frequency of 100 kHz at 303 K. The AC conductivity of the films was found to be a hopping mechanism. r

These compounds were screened for antibacterial and antifungal activities against six human pathogenic bacteria and three human pathogenic fungi and found to have good antimicrobial properties against most of the microorganisms.

The resulting complication makes it difficult to implement a Prolog-type query answering procedure for disjunctive logic programs. However, SLO-resolution provides a mechanism which is similar to SLD-resolution and hence offers a solution to this problem. The Warren Abstract Machine has been a very effective model for implementing Prolog. In this paper, we extend the WAM model of Prolog and adapt it for DISLOG — a language for disjunctive logic programming. We describe the extensions and additional instructions needed to make WAM viable for modeling and executing DISLOG. The extension is made in such a way that the original architecture is not disturbed and a Prolog program will execute as efficiently as it does in the original WAM.
