Barnsley have signed Newcastle striker Nile Ranger on loan until 14 January, BBC Radio Sheffield reports.
The 20-year-old joins the Tykes on an emergency deal having failed to play one game for the Magpies this season.
Ranger appeared at Newcastle Magistrates Court on Thursday and pleaded not guilty to assault and drunk and disorderly behaviour.
He was remanded on conditional bail, given a curfew in Newcastle city centre and reappears in court on 13 January.
The London-born forward joined Newcastle in 2008 and has made 58 appearances for the Premier League club, scoring three goals.
